WELCOME TO ORCHARD VALLEY YOUTH SOCCER

Under most circumstances, U6 - U10 players can be granted “One Mutual Buddy” request, if the request is made following the process outlined below, and if the request is made during online registration. The U12 - U14 Coach and Buddy Requests Policy has not been modified. See Registration Information Section below, for details.

U8 Teams will play a 6 V 6 format without goalies, to increase touches for all players.

The Late Fee has been increased to $45.00, so please register on time. See Recreation Program Dates below, for deadlines.

The Wait List Policy will be less flexible this season, so please register online and on time.

OVYSL’s DOC (Director of Coaching) will be providing training to all recreation coaches and assistant coaches, to improve soccer development and enjoyment for all players.

Throughout the online registration period, OVYSL sends out “Registration Reminder” emails to its entire customer base. It is not possible for OVYSL to target only those players that have not yet registered and therefore, all customers will continue to receive the “Registration Reminder” emails, although they may have already registered. Receipt of an OVYSL email reminder is not an indicator that your player has not been registered. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience.

If you wish to inquire that an online registration has been received by OVYSL’s Registrar, DO NOT email the Registrar. Verify registration as follows:
Log back into the Registration System at www.ovysl.org.
Click on the “Register Now” Button and log in.
Click on the “Registration & Status” tab located to the right of the list of Account Members.
Here you will find information regarding the Player, Date of Registration, Status of Registration, Balance Due, and Documents Received or Outstanding.

Registration Fees: Registration Fees are non-refundable, once the player has been registered.

1601 Registration Form: All recreation players must email or mail a completed and signed 1601 Registration Form to OVYSL’s Registrar. In addition, all players must provide their coach with a completed and signed copyof the 1601 Form, on the first day of practice, BEFORE the player can begin practice. The copy that you provide to the Registrar WILL NOT be forwarded to the coach.

Birth Certificate: All players must email or mail a Birth Certificate to OVYSL’s Registrar, if they did NOT participate in the Spring 2012 or Fall 2012 Recreation or Competitive Season. Once a birth certificate is submitted by a player, that player will not be required to do so in any future seasons. This new process was effective Spring 2012, and therefore if you participated in prior seasons, but did not participate this past spring or fall, you will need to submit a birth certificate.

Player’s Current Contact Information is Essential: While registering online, verify that the player’s phone number and email address, in the player’s permanent record, are current. Please edit the contact information if necessary. This will allow OVYSL to communicate important League announcements and to effectively connect players with their coaches.

Player Pass Pictures: For all players born before 8/01/2002, and all U8 or U10 players that have been selected to join a Play Thru team, coaches will be requesting or taking a picture, when practices begin. The picture must be 1.5” X 1”, must be a front facing head shot, and the player shall not be wearing a hat or glasses. You have the option to upload a picture during the registration process, although it is not mandatory. Do not mail pictures to OVYSL’s Registrar, as they will not be forwarded to the coach.

One Mutual Buddy Request Process (process must be followed exactly as stated):

Parents must coordinate the mutual buddy request with each other, in advance of registration:
- Confirm that “buddy” is in the same age group and gender (only U6 is coed)
- Confirm that “buddy” will register before the online system closes, because there will not be a second opportunity to select a different buddy or to manually ask for a buddy, outside of the initial online registration process
- Confirm that “buddy” knows that he/she must request your player, specifically, during online registration

The online registration process:
- Mutual Buddy request must be made during online registration
- Both players must request each other, during online registration. Player A must request Player B and Player B must request Player A
- Request only one buddy. Do not request multiple buddies, as only the first request will be considered, under any circumstances. There will be NO exceptions
- Buddy request must include buddy’s first and last name
- If a mutual request was not entered during online registration, buddies will not be connected under any circumstances.
- Requests to change a buddy, after the online registration process has been completed, will not be granted
- Players that request a buddy that has not registered or is in a different age group will not get a buddy on the team

A Sibling Placement May Impact a Buddy Request:
Sibling placements take priority over buddy requests. Siblings will be placed together (according to age and gender guidelines), even when a “sibling” request is not indicated during registration.
When siblings are placed together, and a corresponding buddy request creates a situation whereby the roster cannot be balanced by age/gender (gender applicable to U6), then the buddy request will not be granted, under any circumstances.

For the U6 age group, there is a strong possibility that when your player is placed with a sibling, OV will not be able to grant the buddy request, due to the small roster size.
For the U8-U10 age groups, there is a slight possibility that when your player is placed with a sibling, OV may not be able to grant the buddy request.
For the U6-U10 age groups, it is nearly impossible to grant buddy requests, when twin or triplet siblings are placed together.

Play Thru Program Requests (see definition of Play Thru League Below): Each player can request up to two coaches. List the coaches’ names (first and last) in order of preference. Each player can request up to two friends. List the friends’ names (first and last), in order of preference, as only one will be considered. Please do not reference school names, since the school that a player attends is not information that is available when creating rosters. If you have a carpool arrangement, list the friend’s name in the friend request and indicate “carpool”. This request will be considered as a priority over any coach request, but not over another player that has registered earlier. It would be advantageous for BOTH carpool participants to request each other as “carpool” friends (clearly indicated) and to register early on. Registration order is based on the date and time of online registration. “Coach” and “Friend” requests are granted on a First Come-First Serve Basis, using the date and time of online registration. Requests are NOT guaranteed, but a conscientious effort will be made to grant them. Requests are limited by the requirement that the rosters within each age group/gender are of equal size. It is strongly suggested that ONLY requests of highest priority are made during the online registration process and that players register early, if they have special coach or friend requests. All requests must be entered during online registration, in order for the roster coordinator to have visibility to those requests. The 1601 Form IS NOT referenced for the purpose of building rosters. No registration requests will be granted for late registrations. Selected U8 and U10 Play Thru players cannot be granted their “One Mutual Buddy” request, as these teams will be constructed by the DOC (Director of Coaching), in conjunction with the coach.

Age Groups: The age group, into which a player is placed, is determined by the player’s date of birth. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made that allow for players to play up an age group, or to play down an age group. OVYSL’s Competitive Program is available to most players that are exceptionally skilled. Volunteer Program: OVYSL’s Recreational Program is comprised of volunteer coaches, and therefore there is no guarantee that a player can be placed with a coach that will hold practice in the city in which the player resides. Each volunteer coach determines their team’s practice times and locations, based on their personal schedule, and these times and locations can change at any time during the season. Coaches are at liberty to hold practices on Mondays - Thursdays, in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, San Martin or any combination of these days and locations.

Wait List Process: Once the online registration deadline has passed, players can be placed on a waiting list, by emailing OVYSL’s Registrar at ovregistrar@charter.net. Please write “Wait List Request” in the subject and in the body of the email. In the email, please include the Player’s First and Last Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and a Contact Phone Number. Players will be contacted by OVYSL’s Registrar, if there is space on a roster, and then be provided with information on how to register. This Offline Registration Process is also documented below. If a player is contacted by OVYSL’s Registrar, that there is space on a roster, she will be reaching back out to the player, to determine if there is still interest in being added to a team. If OVYSL’s Registrar does not receive a “Yes” response within 24 hours (via phone or email), the next player on the wait list will be contacted and given an opportunity to secure that space on the roster, and the original player will be moved down two spots on the wait list. In addition, after indicating the player’s willingness to be added to a team, please mail the registration documents and payment promptly. If the registration package is not received by the Registrar within 2 calendar days, that open spot will be made available to the next player on the wait list. Be sure to include the late fee of $45.00, along with the registration fee. Do not mail any registration documents or payment unless OVYSL’s Registrar has contacted you to do so. Players can be kept on the wait list until after games have begun, as there still may be spots that become available up through that time-frame. Special requests will NOT be granted for wait listed players.

Offline Registration Process: Although online registration is strongly encouraged, an offline procedure exists for players that are not able to register online or for those wait listed players that have been informed by OVYSL’s Registrar that a spot has opened, after the online system has closed.

Download and complete a 1601 Registration Form from www.ovysl.org. Select “Forms” from the Home Page. This form can be found under CYSA Forms.
Make checks payable to “OVYSL”. Include the registration fee (listed above) and a late fee of $45.00, if registering after February 17. It is imperative that you include the late fee if you wish for the player to be added to the roster.
Include player’s birth certificate if player did NOT participate in the Spring or Fall 2012 Recreation or Competitive Season.
Mail all registration documents and fees to OVYSL’s Registrar, whose address is listed at the top of the pagE

It is also an option to drop this package off at the Registrar’s address. Place the package into the “Recreation” soccer box, located on the front porch. Do not place the package into the mailbox or into the box labeled “Competitive”. Please Do NOT ring the doorbell.

Play Thru League: All U11 - U14 Players, as well as selected U8 and U10 Players, will play in the Play Thru League. Teams in the Play Thru League will play other teams that are outside of OVYSL, and therefore, the players are required to travel to games. Fifty percent of the season games will be played in Morgan Hill and the other fifty percent of the season games can be played anywhere within the San Benito, Monterey and Santa Clara Counties. U8 and U10 players that are selected to play in the Play Thru League will have been notified in advance of the registration process. These U8 and U10 teams will play in Play Thru, beginning in the Fall 2013 season, as a bridge to a future competitive team.

Uniforms: U6 - U14 players will be provided with a full uniform (jersey, shorts, socks).

Equipment: U8 - U14 coaches will be provided with 3 game balls and all U6 coaches will receive one soccer ball, for each player, to be given to each player at the end of the season.

Jamboree for U8 and U10 Teams: The end-of-season Jamboree is not included in the Spring Program.

Medals: All players will receive a participation medal at the end of the season.

Recreation Program Dates: U6 - U10 (players born between 8/01/2002 – 7/31/2008):

February 17, 2013: Deadline to submit online or offline registration without a late fee.

February 18, 2013: Online and offline registration remains open with an applicable $45.00 late fee.
Players that register on or after this date are NOT guaranteed to be placed on a team roster, as team rosters may already have filled to capacity based on OVYSL’s First Come-First Serve Policy.

February 22, 2013: Online registration system CLOSES at 11:59 PM and will not accept any registrations after this date. See Wait List Process outlined above.

March 16, 2013: Coaches are expected to have contacted all players on their team roster.

March 18, 2013: Practices can begin, although determined and scheduled by each coach.

Play Thru Program Dates: U12 - U14 (all players born between 8/01/1998 and 7/31/2002) as well as selected U8 and U10 Players:

February 17, 2013: Deadline to submit online or offline registration without a late fee.

February 22, 2013: Online registration system CLOSES at 11:59 PM and will not accept any registrations after this date. See Wait List Process outlined above.

March 4, 2013: Practices can begin, although determined and scheduled by each coach.
